BCLUW Cross Country 2017
by Treye Teske
This season we had a motto that we kind of lived by. It was SIMPLE. SIMPLE stood for Set It in just do it Mode. Make it Priceless, Love it, and Excel. Donna thought of that motto over the summer and to us it means that if we work hard and have fun then we will get better together. The Cross Country team had 11 meets this year.
The boys XC team finished the conference meet with a score of 194 points. That got them 7th place. The boys times were: Kristian Ferneau in 84th place with a time of 24:04, Alex Crompton in 81st place with a time of 22:15, Josiah Hand in 77th place with a time of 21:37, Koty Kruse in 65th place with a time of 20:18, Treye Teske in 34th place with a time of 18:47, Neifer Ralston in 16th place with a time of 18:24, and Caleb Silver leading the Comets with a time of 17:17 finishing in 2nd place. Caleb and Neifer both earned all-conference honors. Caleb getting 1st team and Neifer getting 2nd.
The girls XC team did not finish as a team in the conference meet due to not having enough runners, but here are the results: Payton Pekarek in 78th place with a time of 27:58, Samantha Schleisman in 60th place with a time of 24:38, Madison Engle in 56th place with a time of 24:21, and Katie Thompson leading the ladies with a time of 22:56 and finishing in 33rd place.
We had one cross country runner advance to state, Caleb Silver. Caleb finished the race in 20th place with a time of 17:03.8. Caleb made it to state by getting 6th at districts with a time of 17:52.
